The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod was in the news!  What do you suppose happened among us that was newsworthy? Perhaps the headlines were as follows: “God Bestows Forgiveness of Sins through Pastor” or “Water and Word Wash Away Sins” or “Flesh and Blood of Christ distributed in, with, and under Bread and Wine” or “Law and Gospel Rightly Divided”.

 Those are the things that happen among us richly and daily. But they’re not what got us in the news. What were the headlines that put the LCMS in the news? “Church Leader Reprimands Pastor for Prayer Service”. And then the next week: “Church Leader Apologizes for Reprimand”.

 In a nutshell, here’s what happened...

HAS IT BEEN 3 YEARS ALREADY?

            This February marks an anniversary of sorts for me. On February 7, 2010 I was installed as pastor of Zion. That was three years ago. I still feel like I’m new around here, but the fact is that three years is a pretty significant amount of time.
