Beth Koepke

A little bit about me:

I graduated from Hastings College in 1998 with a BA in education. I began teaching here at Zion in 2000; after two years of substitute teaching in the Hastings area. I taught 6th grade for two years before moving my current position as the Kindergarten teacher. I am a fourth generation member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a student here at Zion from Preschool-8th Grade.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 This is my favorite Bible verse because it reminds us that no matter what happens to us, good or bad, it is a part of God’s plan for us. We can trust that He will use those things for good in our lives.

What is your favorite thing about teaching at Zion?

My favorite thing about teaching at Zion is being able to share the word of God with my students and to help them grow in their faith.

What does Christian education mean to you?

Christian education is more than just reading a story from the Bible in Religion class. We want God to be a part of every subject we teach. From learning about the plants and flowers, that God made, in the classroom to the way that God wants us to treat others on the playground. God is everywhere and in everything we do.

What is your favorite Bible story and why?

My favorite story from the Bible is the Christmas story. I love hearing about the birth of Jesus. To me, this is the most important story in the Bible. It shows us that God loves us so much that He sent his Son into the world, to live among us and to be our Savior.
