Head Teacher & Music
Greetings! My name is Sara Nielsen and I am the Head Teacher. I will also be the music teacher as of the 2019-2020 school year. It is an honor to serve as the leader of a school recognized for providing such quality instruction in a Christ-centered environment.
I was born and raised on a farm near Kenesaw. My husband is an aircraft mechanic for the Air National Guard and we have a six-year-old daughter. I received my Lutheran Teacher’s Diploma and Bachelor’s degree in K-12 Music Education from Concordia University in Seward. My first call was to the Lutheran High School of San Antonio, where I taught music, band, and choir. I then moved back to Nebraska and taught elementary music at St. Vincent de Paul School in Seward. Later, I obtained a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from UNL. Upon graduating, I focused on building my own private music studio, while also working full-time in the insurance industry for several years. I really missed classroom teaching, so I prayed for a job opportunity that would allow me to use my God-given talents and abilities. That is when this position at Zion was presented to me, so I began another Master’s degree in Educational Administration at UNK. I am over halfway through the program and will have my Principal Certification soon.
I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring my knowledge and experience to ZLS! In my spare time, I enjoy being outside, walking my dog, traveling, anything music-related, and spending time with my loved ones. My favorite Bible verse is, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” –Proverbs 19:21.
